Greece Adventures

Santorini was one of those destinations that will always feel like an otherworldly, magical place. We took this trip in June, and it is still hard to describe how beautiful it was. It was the perfect balance of a romantic get away and an adventurous vacation with our best bud, Lauren Carroll!

Y’all, there are ton of photos, but there is so much more than just white and blue buildings in Santorini.
We met so many incredible people. We sat at restaurants for hours talking with our servers.
One of them sat out our table, kicked up his feet, and lit up a cigarette. We shared stories, and belly laughed so hard as we ate our full of delicious Grecian food.  We talked about our dreams. Not just in the surface kind of way, but this is my vision for my life, my passion, what I am working every day for.

Then we watched with sparkling eyes as he shared with us his earliest childhood memories. 4am sitting around the table with his mother who let him sneak sips of Greek coffee. All the while, teaching us the brewing methods and traditions of Greek coffee.

So with that, enjoy this little glimpse of our adventure. <3

PLEASE HEAR ME:  I used to look at travel blogs, and I yearned to be able to travel. But over the past couple years, I have learned something. I know it sounds cliche to say, but you don’t have to be a millionaire to travel to beautiful, foreign places (and to do it wisely). As in, not putting yourself in debt or barely getting by.
What it comes down to is a little at a time. Start saving a little at a time. Heck, maybe it will take you five years to save for that dream trip, but if you start saving now, in five years you will be embarking on a great adventure- not in the same place you are not- looking at people’s photos wishing that you could.

DO NOT believe that little progress is NO progress. Staying put, I can’t, I wish…. that is no progress.

When you start heading in the direction of your dreams, guess what?

You are already living them out. Little by little. Day by day. This is not a race. You are not missing out. The only way you miss on on the beauty of life, is when we get so caught up in someone else’s that you fail to see the beauty in your own.

If you want to see the trip through a different lens, check our Lauren’s blog here: http://laurencarrollphotography.com/santorini-greece/ (where I stole the following recommendations! hehe Same trip. Same faves.)

Favorite Santorini restaurants:
Dionysos in Atlantis
Rosemary Restaurant
Meteor Cafe
Katina Fish Tavern
Oia Vineyart
Roka Tavern
Sphinx Wine Restaurant- SO WORTH IT. (We went TWICE.)

Other attractions we visited:
Red beach
Akrotiri (Minoan Bronze Age settlement on the volcanic Greek island of Santorini (Thera). The settlement was destroyed in the Theran eruption about 1627 BC and buried in volcanic ash, which preserved the remains of fine Frescoes and many objects and artworks. The settlement has been suggested as a possible inspiration for Plato’s story of Atlantis.)
The Parthenon in Athens
Niagara Falls- WOW. I had no idea what to expect. It was so beautiful.

Love you guys so much! Keep dreaming and chasing!

Ardently,

Catherine
